Events & Advertising
As the Interpretive Guide for Rocky Neck State Park, I independently developed programs and created the advertising to promote them. I aimed to design events that were engaging for all ages and posters that were clear, inviting, and easy to read.
When designing flyers, I focused on readability and visual appeal. At the start of the season, I created my own branding system using colors from the DEEP logo and two fonts, Leckerli One and Canva Sans, to keep titles playful but information clear. I applied this template across all flyers (except for special events) to maintain a unified, eye-catching look. Each week, I designed new flyers and placed them around the park in high-visibility areas.

During my three years with DEEP, I noticed that while visitors were eager to attend Rocky Neck events, there wasn’t an easy way for them to see what was happening unless they visited the park in person. To help fix that, I built a website showcasing all current and upcoming events in one place. I also added a section for the park’s geocache hunt, created and organized by me, so guests could access all the information they needed before heading out on the trails.

Over the course of five months, I created and hosted 78 events, reaching a total of 2,168 guests. Through thoughtful planning and design, I successfully doubled event attendance compared to previous years. For each program, I recorded detailed notes on timing, location, and audience participation, using that data to schedule future events and tailor them to specific groups strategically (ie families or adults, campers or beach guests).
