Millstone Outage Shirts
During a scheduled outage, Millstone Power Station temporarily shuts down one of its nuclear reactors for refueling and maintenance. The event brings together more than 2,000 Dominion Energy employees, all united with a custom-designed shirt.
In the fall of 2024, I got an email from the Millstone Employee Recreation Committee (MERC). The request? Create something "fun and either fall, Halloween, or nautical inspired" with only 11 days to deliver. That challenge sparked a burst of creativity and led to several exciting design ideas.
By Spring 2026, I heard again from the Millstone Employee Recreation Committee (MERC) with new shirt requests for the next outage. This time I had more time and specific guidance. One concept they asked for was a design featuring a milestone as a driver’s license, symbolizing the Unit’s operating license extension. At the same time, I developed my own approach, playing on the theme of ‘operating.’
